What losses are you entitled to recover?

If you were responsible for the accident and you are comprehensively insured, you are entitled under your own policy, to recover the full cost of repairing your vehicle and some policies also provide for a limited car hire facility.

If you were not responsible for the accident, you are entitled to recover:-

  • The full cost of repairing your vehicle.
  • Depreciation caused to your vehicle as a result of the accident.
  • The cost of reasonable vehicle hire.
  • Your policy excess (if you have also made a claim on a comprehensive policy). [top]
Will you look after my claim if the other driver was responsible but was uninsured?

Yes, even if the other driver was uninsured, there is a compensation scheme in place and we will look after processing your claim in those circumstances. [top]

When will I get my cheque?

Our service is highly efficient and many claims are settled within two to three weeks of us receiving instructions. If, however, there is a dispute with the other driver over the circumstances of the accident, then resolution can take longer, but you will be kept fully informed of all developments. [top]
